Founded in 2010 in Australia by designers Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty, Song for the Mute creates contemporary womenswear and menswear by inventing/sourcing rare fabrics from Italy and Japan. The designers often refer to themselves as “Textile Alchemists” and are inspired by the world of Japanese Fashion including designers like Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto.
